Chimpanzees, orangutans, gorillas, baboons and other humanoid animals are always a nice topic for me to carve. I can learn how to carve the texture or structure of the skin, and in particular how to express emotions. A portrait of a chimpanzee is quite common in my work, I make it sometimes without hair, and sometimes with hair. It all depends on emotion I want to express in the sculpture and adopt type of a style. For work I choose materials such as Super Sculpey, Monster Clay or NSP by Chavant. In the monkey portraits, made without fur, I focus on the appearance of the skin. On the other hand, portraits with fur must not only be interestingly carved, but above all, they should emphasize the emotional state. Whether it is rage or joy, the right hair structure helps me to choose, the visual value of the sculpture.
